Panel Design and Dimensioning

The design of electrics and electronics for seagoing vessels is highly specialised.

Power panel design is demanding enough when the installation is shore-based. Simply positioning breakers or switches on a panel to achieve a user-friendly layout that can still meet the physical constraints imposed by the wiring loom and the electrical requirements and regulations is often not straightforward.

Add to this the complications of generator options, dual-phase (USA), an inverter, isolation transformers and shorelines and you may feel that you would prefer to have us take some of the burden.

We have years of experience in the design of marine instrumentation and control panels. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their esthetic and ergonomic demands are met in a practical, robust and manufacturable design.

Our engineers are intimately familiar with the wide range of quality instruments, alarms and switchgear our clients demand and can advise on your choice.

Software

If you are venturing into the world of 'Fly-by-Wire', 'Glass Cockpit' and 'Touchscreen Control' we are the leaders in the field. Our software engineers have built a system capable of running a yacht from a handheld control and our RSB hardware simultaneously reduced the wiring burden.

Our internal requirements range fron Web Design to embedded assembly language. All our bespoke software is designed, implemented and tested in-house. Our engineers are continually expanding the range of their skills. We can assist you with a wide range of problems from communications and entertainment, through office automation to robotics.

Electronics Design

Our primary focus is the design and production of modular and bespoke systems for marine applications.

Our primary internal requirement is the design and production of 'glue' or interface circuits to allow devices from a wide range of sources to cohabit.

We also produce boards for a range of custom (Marine - e.g. bilge delay circuit) functions not obtainable off-the-shelf.

While our products have traditionally been analogue devices operating at low frequencies, we have personnel with experience of RF design up to 2.4 GHz.

We have design experience of a number of microprocessors including microchip PIC, PowerPC, 68000, 386xxx. We also have experience of LSI (FPGA, CPLD) design using Xilinx and Altera devices.

For prototyping purposes up to 2-layer boards are etched in-house. We have schematic capture and layout software capable of producing up to 7-layer boards for both thru-hole and SMT technologies with embedded pick-and-place information for automated production.
